Today I decided to dye my hair from black back to it’s natural color, a light ashy brown. I knew this would involve a lot of bleaching, but since I’ve bleached my hair once before (and that was a long while ago) and it seemed to do little damage, I thought I would be okay.

I bought all of the same products I had used last time, and started as soon as I arrived home from school. After I began to apply the bleach, I realized I had only bought one kit, and not two. With my hair being as thick as it is, I definitely need two! Luckily, my mom was home and ran to the store to buy a second kit. I applied it, and when it was time and I rinsed it, my hair still felt very soft. I thought all was well.

Then, when I started brushing it…clumps of my hair started falling out. I ran my fingers through my bangs/fringe, LIGHTLY, and more came out. All of the hair framing my face was breaking off, and started to feel like elastic string. D: I hadn’t even put the hair dye in yet. Maybe I should have just kept the orange-y bleach hair for the sake of doing as little damage to it as possible, but I figured I’d rather have very dry, normal colored hair, than slightly dry creamsicle colored hair.

I went through with the dye and it doesn’t seem to have caused much more damage. The color turned out fairly nice. It’s the fact that my hair is so frizzy right now that is bothering me. My bangs have been in need of a good cut anyway, so maybe I’ll finally get around to it, thanks to this.

Anyway, any recommendations on treatments for badly damaged hair due to over-processing? I’m asking as many people as possible, because I’m desperate. D:

Ah no, how did that happen? My younger sister always bleaches her hair, she’s mad for hair-dye. I always like the Frizz-Ease products, they’re good for treating damaged hair.

By the way, there’s a link at the top of my page, by the foot of the girl in the red skirt, to my blog page, if you get lost on the new layout :)

God!! Well I’m glad the color at least turned out nice but, yiiiiikes scary! Do you have any leave-in conditioner? I used it a lot when I was growing my hair out and had tons of dried, frizzy split ends. I think I used Tresseme’s the most.
